RETROGRADE EJACULATION

Permanent Solution

Retrograde ejaculation occurs when the muscle at the neck of the bladder fails to contract during orgasm, causing semen to flow into the bladder instead of out through the penis. This results in a “dry orgasm,” where ejaculation is absent, though the orgasm itself feels normal and usually doesn’t affect sexual pleasure.

Fertility Impact:
  • Retrograde ejaculation can cause male infertility as the sperm doesn’t reach the partner’s uterus.
  • The condition is not harmful but typically requires treatment only if fertility restoration is needed.
Causes:
  • Physical Issues: Retrograde ejaculation is caused by a failure of the bladder neck muscle to contract. It’s often due to nerve damage from conditions like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or spinal cord injuries.
  • Medications: Drugs for enlarged prostate, high blood pressure, or depression may lead to this condition.
  • Surgery: Prostate or bladder surgeries, particularly transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), are common causes.
Symptoms:

Significantly reduced or absent semen during orgasm (dry climax).

Treatment for retrograde ejaculation is generally sought for fertility restoration.
